That seemed to be a trend in 80's girl books where the person from New York was always a snobby bitch. Like, in the babysitters club, Stacey's friend Lainie is a stuck up bitch too.

Since writing this post, I've learned that Francine Pascal is a New Yorker. She didn't write this book in the literal sense, but she plotted it. I wonder if Suzanne is based on someone real, since she's not likely meant as a stand-in for all New York ladies.
